Jung-hoon (John) Lee is a visiting scholar with the Stanford Program on Regions of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SPRIE), Stanford Graduate School of Business since September 2011. He is also currently an associate professor at the Graduate School of Information (GSI), Yonsei University, Seoul, South Korea.

John’s recent research interests have focused on “Smart Green City”, specially the IT-based service design and implementation in urban planning and development. He has been involved in several innovative R&D projects sponsored by the South Korean government, including developing a national strategy and vision for Smart City, analyzing and designing Smart City services and implementation with the LG CNS, and developing Performance Management Systems for Smart City operations. Based on these research experiences and drawing on a number of Smart Green City projects, he was an associate project manger for developing a five-year master plan for the Seoul City Hall. Currently, John is also working with Busan City Hall, South Korea’s second largest metropolis, to set up and promote Smart Green City’s vision and strategy for next five years. John is a member of steering committee for ‘U-Seoul Forum (Smart Green City Initiative)’ for the Seoul City hall.

As a scholar in technology, operations and information management, John has published widly in international journals including R&D Management, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Information Systems Management, the Global Economic Review, the Information Systems Review, the Journal of Service Sciences, Expert Systems and Applications, International Journal of Computer Integrated Manufacturing and International Journal of Production Research.

John received a B.Eng./MSc. in Electronic Engineering/Information Systems Engineering from the University of Manchester and MSc in Analysis, Design and Management of Information Systems from the London School of Economics in the UK. He then took his Ph.D. in Manufacturing Engineering and Management from the Institute for Manufacturing, University of Cambridge. Prior to joining the GSI faculty at Yonsei University, he worked for LG CNS as a senior business/IT consultant in IT Governance & Management.
