Dr. Martin Haemmig specializes for over a decade as international innovation & commercialization researcher, lecturer and advisor on the Globalization of Venture Capital. He focuses on the industry trends, VC best practice, and benchmarks industry sector developments across geographies (investments, valuations, exits, performance - covering 13 countries in USA, Asia, Europe, and Israel). He also looks at technology startups in incubators in Asia, to better understand the leading-edge solutions being developed there and tracks the angel investments in that region.
While traveling 7-8 months per year in Asia, USA and Europe, he researches and/or teaches in leading schools around the world. They are located in California (Stanford University, University of California Berkeley & Davis), Europe (INSEAD, ETH Zurich, UniBW Munich, Leiden University), China (Tsinghua, Peking, Renmin, Shanghai Jiaotong, CEIBS) and as guest lecturer in India (IIT Delhi & IIT Bombay, Indian School of Business-ISB in Hyderabad).
Martin Haemmig is involved in various programs as advisor and expert on venture capital, including the World Economic Forum (WEF) for several projects. His academic advisories include Stanford University (Stanford Program on Regions of Innovation and Entrepreneurship as Senior Advisor on Venture Capital). He helped set up the world's first Venture Capital PhD program in China at Renmin University in Beijing and is a participant of the Stanford Roundtable for Entrepreneurship Education (REE). In addition, he advises leading multinational companies and international VC firms as a global VC and deal-sourcing expert. On the government side, it was China's largest Science Park Zhongguancun with over 20,000 companies and about one million employees (as Advisor on Venture Capital & Internationalization) and Tsinghua Science Park in Beijing. Finally, he also educates incubation managers in Asia (APIN-Asia Pacific Incubation Network) on startup company financing through angel, VC and government capital. Besides lecturing and research, he also holds several visiting or adjunct professor positions in the United States, Europe and Asia at leading academic institutions.
Martin Haemmig speaks English, German and French at a proficient level. He spent about 15 of the past 30 years outside his home country Switzerland (USA, Asia, Middle East, Eastern Europe, and Africa, covering a total of 53 countries). He has both the doctorate in business and the MBA from California and an engineering degree in electronics from Switzerland. During his 20 years industry experience as technologist and business executive in R&D, after sales service management, business development, VP marketing/sales and as general manager, he also became Swiss national marketing champion in 1994.
