Yan Mei joined SPRIE as its program coordinator in February 2011. Before coming to Stanford, she worked as an external relations executive at the China Policy Institute, a think tank based at the University of Nottingham, and as a research fellow at the University of Westminster, focusing on advertising, marketing, and business strategies. Her previous professional experience also includes the BBC Chinese Service in London; the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development in Geneva; and Linktone, a Shanghai-based wireless service provider.

Mei holds an MA degree in international journalism from City University London, and a BA degree in English from Shanghai Normal University.
